In the eyes of innocence!!

I had an opportunity to see in the EYES of INNOCENCE- the joy they had for learning and the excitement they had for feeling it!

Last 2 weeks [ 2 Saturdays ] as usual had been to Jalahalli school for supporting the social cause - Educating the Kids.

As usual it was 9:30 AM and had planned to take up computer classes.

Fortunately or Unfortunately the school had 5 PC's  - [ Govt has provided a well advanced PC's like all of us have at our Desk ]. But there were 58 students [ including girls and boys ]

Discussing with the principal , decided to take 2 batches [ As there were no band width of volunteers]

  

Rushing towards the Computer classes - the girls started fighting to find the closest seats near the computer.

A real time for me to make them aligned and sit peacefully .

I could see the curiosity in their eyes, they had the eagerness to discover the world..

Well the attitude to educate them was still burning  flesh in my minds.

I didnt do many things..but a basics of simple basics on

what is computer

what is hardware/software

what is input/output

what are the parts of computer

How to handle keyboards, Mouse

How to open a calculator

You know guys, these kids were amazed by the technology and terms - they even wanted to skip the mid day meal from akshaya patra initiative.

well they were forced to have the meals and return back

They all finished there meals + cleaned there plates + sweeped there classes and places and came back to the seat.

How to open a calculator :

Though it looks a ground thing for us, the kids who got the opputunity to wave there fingers on the computer for the first time , were so excited to open there first calculators on the screen

Really, i am so lucky to witness the courageous outflow of there will power - that said they are eager to learn many things there itself.

They were excited , they jumped , they thanked for the oppurtunity.

it all happened in the previous to previous saturday.

When i left the place i was 100% satisfied of the service - Helping the childrens of GOD

Well the same eagerness, the same enthusiasm, the same attitude and the energy were in there body when i met them in the last class . And it was a pleasant day too.

And when they waved me at the end of the class - i saw that they are eagerly waiting for us to spend some time with them . Teach them more on computers.

Hey folks, my cousins daughter - a 1st std ICSE syllabus , know how to handle a computer, can play a well little complex games , but these kids of 7th standard are still far far behind

Lets help them with full support atleast to make them capable to decide what is there future??

They will be waiting for us for next saturday. Hope you all will be part of this programme

lets enjoy being in them for an hour!!

1. What is that we need to Concentrate?

What we Discussed: We need to concentrate mainly ENGLISH communication skills and Computer Education to these kids

Why we Decided :

•  The little kids here are very smart at there studies, but they lack the confidence of ENGLISH , when they are walking into there higher classes in Private schools. They always try to be back benches because of the hesitation. So making them understand the importance of ENGLISH communication is our aim.

•  As usual you Computer Education in these schools are to 0 level. So helping them to key in the ideas of Computers is a great support we can give them

2. What methodology makes them Interesting?

What we discussed : Practical approach, working with practical models give them the feel of reality which interest them

Why we decided :  Not new, but in simple giving them opportunities’ to build models [ say electric circuits, motors ] etc helps them learn easily and think practically. These are the things which these Little gods children miss from the private schools

3. Should we measure the Output of our service?

What we discussed : Yes

Why we discussed : that gives a self satisfaction to us as well as benchmark for the students

4. How do we measure the Output?

What we discussed : End of our service, the Student should have achieved what we have Aimed. So Conducting practical tests is the best one.

Challenges :

1. Volunteers Bandwidth to support the cause

2. Challenges in capturing the Enthusiasm and interest of the student [ Currently we are doing very good with it.. ]
